Is elbow flange a fitting?

There are two kinds of statements about whether elbow flange belongs to pipe fittings:

1、 The pipe fittings include elbow, tee, tee, reducer, expansion joint, valve, flange, gasket, bolt, nut, instrument element, etc. Everything in a pipe is called a pipe fitting (pipe element), except for a pipe. It is reasonable to say that components on the pipe except pipes can be called fittings. Therefore, for the pipe specialty, the pipe fittings are mainly three-way, four-way, elbow, big and small head, official cap, pipe joint, union, pipe table, etc. It can be seen as the understanding of our industry conventions. Flange, flange, gasket and bolt can be classified as pipe fittings, but pressure gauge nozzle belongs to instrument components, which is counted by instrument specialty, and installed by process pipeline during installation.

2、 In a broad sense, if you think that a pipe component is a pipe fitting, a flange is a fitting. But the pipe fittings mentioned in the project management usually do not include flange. The complete pipeline (excluding anti-corrosion and heat preservation) consists of pipes (pipes), pipe fittings, flange, fasteners, valves and instrument components. The pipeline refers to the pipeline installed on site (if the pipeline with finished products is not within the scope of pipeline, such as the straight pipe section of flow orifice strip); pipe fittings refer to tee, elbow, boss, nozzle, filter, special parts, etc.; instrument elements refer to instruments, such as pressure gauge and thermometer. There are also clear categories in the budget quota.

3、 According to the standard of elbow flange, flange is not pipe fitting. It is referred to as flange joint with gasket and fastener. From the definition of the specification, flange is not pipe fitting, flange belongs to pipe element or pipe component gb20801-2006 pressure pipeline specification: industrial pipe. Pipe fittings include elbow, tee, reducer, flanging short knot, pipe cap and union. Tsg2009 safety supervision regulations for pressure pipeline stipulate that the elbow flange of pressure pipe unit includes pipe components and pipe supports. The explanation of terms in gb50235 and gb20801 has been noted: the pipe elements include flange and valve connecting the pipe.
